Children who grow up with pets are at lower risk for obesity and allergies

There is more and more research coming out on the benefits of a wide exposure to a variety of microorganisms. Below is an interesting study about the positive effects of being born into a family with dogs and cats.

Georgia announcing a special offer on ThePetCheckup test strips.

University of Alberta, Canada study of 700 children (published in the journal Microbiome) found that babies exposed in the womb or born into homes with dogs and cats recorded an “abundance” of the microbes ruminococcus and oscillospira, the latter of which is associated with leanness or a lower body mass index.

It is believed that this kind of early exposure to bacteria creates a type of resistance. The study further suggests that exposure to dogs and cats significantly lowers the risk of group B strep – which causes blood infection, pneumonia and meningitis in newborns.

At home urine test for pets : SHARK TANK

“Your product saved my dog’s life”

Recently voted “one of the top 10 Pet Products to ever have been seen on Shark Tank”

When we developed ThePetCheckup several years ago, we knew that it was a revolutionary new product that would help many animals to live longer and healthier lives. We knew that being able to detect potential problems at home before symptoms appeared would open up a whole new level of care for pet caregivers. Our veterinary consultants recommended that people test their pets once a month in addition to regular veterinary visits to catch potential problems at an early stage.

What we didn’t realize was how deeply fulfilling it would be to hear our customers personal stories. Some people told us it was a lifesaver. And when we received letters telling us that a dog or cat has passed on and that ThePetCheckup helped them live longer, well….there really aren’t any words to express how good that feels.

And now for iPhone, iPad, and iPod users the same test is being made available to you in a patented technology that is as easy to use as ThePetCheckup. Your choice which style suits you. The test is the same.

Recently Forbes magazine called the Petnostics smart phone version “one of the top 10 Pet Products ever shown on Shark Tank”

Stay tuned for the Shark Tank video presentation which I will post shortly.

Regular home urine testing helps dog with recurring Urinary Tract Infections

“I am delighted to give a review on ThePetCheckup!! Our Whippet Fiona was continually getting UTI’s. The Vet said it could partially be due to her having such a tiny bladder.

I have taken her back for her shots, and told them about ThePetCheckup. They said it’s just like what they use in their office. They were glad to know that we are keeping a check on her so we can catch a problem early, should it arise again. If we have any doubts, like thinking her urine looks a little dark, or any kinds of questionable signs, we go ahead and do another test, even if it hasn’t been a month.

So far, she has not had any more problems in relation to a UTI, but it gives us such peace of mind to be able to check it ourselves. PLUS, it has saved us a lot of money by not taking her to the Vet every time we wonder if there is a problem. We order refills every time we get close to the end of the kit and we plan to do so for as long as we have our dog.

I highly recommend ThePetCheckup to anyone who has pets with problems or just plain cares about their pet to get yourself a kit. It doesn’t have to be just for UTI problems, because it screens for many other diseases as well. It’s well worth it to find out in advance if your pet is developing a health issue that you can catch early and get them the care they need.

It’s reasonably priced and easy to do!! Thank you ThePetCheckup for giving us the resources to keep such a close watch on Fiona!” fiona

Your dog or cat’s urinalysis test results

It is important to remember that your pet’s urinalysis test is not conclusive by itself, but can indicate that something is abnormal with your pet. An examination and possibly further testing by your veterinarian is needed to confirm a diagnosis.

Not every illness that can affect our dog’s and cat’s health can be seen on a urinalysis test, so always consult with your veterinarian if your animal is showing signs of illness or a change in behavior.

Early detection for pet health testimonial

It’s so much fun to receive pictures with testimonials.  Here is one that came yesterday from a long-time customer:

Annie and Ricky

“I wanted to thank you for your prompt service!
ThePetCheckup, is very important to me.  As you know, Annie, has a chronic condition and I  have to test her urine at least once a week.  It helps me work closely with my vet in monitoring her.  I am one hour away from my vet., so having ThePetCheckup,  enables me to keep close watch without constantly going to the clinic.
I also use it for maintenance once/month for my older dog, Ricky (15 1/2).
It is a good tool to have for pro-active health care.
Thanks So Much!  A. Roberson, NC
PS: The little Guy is Ricky.  The bigger one is Annie

What does a urinalysis test for dogs and cats do?

A urinalysis test for pets checks for levels of specific chemicals in your pet’s urine.

Abnormal levels of certain chemicals can be a sign of specific illnesses.

To perform the test, you apply drops of your pet’s urine to a test strip and wait 30-60 seconds. The areas where you placed the urine will change color and an easy-to-read chart will let you know if there are abnormalities present.

This is an easy and inexpensive way to see if your animal is experiencing or potentially developing an illness in between veterinary visits as it can give indications of illness before there are any outward signs.

If your ThePetCheckup test indicates an imbalance your veterinarian will do further testing to give you a diagnosis.  If detected early, 74.7% of common diseases in dogs and 63% of common diseases in cats can be prevented by dietary modifications alone over a one-year period.

Home urine test for pets 2013 pricing

We are happy to say that it looks like the pricing for ThePetCheckup complete kit and for the 6, 12 and 24 refills will remain the same going into 2013.

One of our goals has always been to keep ThePetCheckup pricing in an affordable range.  We had one small price increase a few years ago when our manufacturer added the ‘Leukocyte’ parameter to the test strip, but since then we have been able to keep the pricing the same.

With the cost of everything going up — postage, raw materials, packaging materials, etc., it is challenging.  So we are very happy to share this good news!!

Home urine test kit for pets includes dropper and desiccant

Each of our sealed tests includes a dropper and a desiccant.  That means you have everything you need (other than your dog or cat!) and a urine sample to do your test.

It is actually quite simple.  Just place a drop on each of the 10 reagents and wait the appropriate number of seconds and compare with the results chart.  You will feel super comfortable with it after your first test.

Right now we are shipping tests with an expiration date of 6/2014. The expiration dates have never been an issue since we are always shipping them with dates pretty far off into the future.  We do recommend that you buy the 24-refill pack when you have more than one animal to test.  Although some people like to do the tests more often, which of course is fine too…especially if there has been a recent health concern.
